The Muslim world observed one of the major Muslim holy days, the Feast of Sacrifice. During this feast, Muslims, who can afford to do so, sacrifice usually sheep, cows or goats as a symbol of the prophet Abraham's sacrifice. According to Islam, a large portion of the meat has to be given to the poor and hungry people so they can all join the feast which is held on the Feast of Sacrifice. Through this occasion the Interfaith Dialogue Organizaion (IDO) donated 220 lbs. meat to local charitable organizations that provide food and shelter for the needy in our community; God's Pantry Food Bank, Catholic Action Center and the Islamic Society of Central Kentucky. |
